Sindh leading in health sector: Dr Sohail

KARACHI:“Sindh is the only province of Pakistan which offers cardiovascular, liver, kidney, cancer and bone marrow transplant surgeries free of cost and other provinces should follow the Sindh government such vision,” said Additional Medical Superintendent (Technical) Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi Dr Sohail Sahto while talking to PPI on Sunday.

Dr Sahto said: “Treatment and diagnoses of liver, kidney, heart, cancer and bone marrow transplant is considered very costly all over the world, but Sindh is the only province of the country where treatment and diagnoses of these lethal diseases is provided free of charge and people from all over the country are availing these most advanced facilities in public sector hospitals of the province.”

He informed that patients from neighboring countries, including Iran, Afghanistan and others, were coming to Sindh province for cancer, cardiovascular, liver, kidney and transplants surgeries. He said National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) management had established satellite centres throughout the province where all kinds of surgeries and tests were being performed free of cost.

Dr Sahto urged the other provisional governments to establish institute like NICVD, SIUT and others in their respective provinces to facilitate poor at their door steps.
