Sirajul Haq reelected as JI Ameer

LAHORE:Senator Sirajul Haq has been re-elected as the Ameer of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, by the majority of the JI Arkan through secret ballot for another five-year term.

The election result was announced by JI deputy chief and chief of the JI election wing, Asadulah Bhutto, at a press conference at Mansoora, on Wednesday.

Bhutto said, the founder of the JIP, Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi was the elected Ameer of the JIP from 1941 up to 1972. Mian Tufail Muhammad was the second elected Ameer of the JIP from 1972 till 1987. Qazi Husain was the next JIP Ameer and was elected to the JIP top slot from 1987 till 2009. He was followed by Syed Munawwar Hasan, who was elected as JIP Ameer for the period from 2009 till 2014.
