Six notorious dacoits killed in alleged encounter near Larkana

LARKANA: Six most wanted notorious bandits were killed in an alleged encounter with Larkana police in the riverine area located within the limits of Baradi Jatoi Police Station, near Larkana on Thursday.

Larkana police claimed that the encounter took place within the jurisdiction of Khairpur district. The dead criminals were identified as Pathan alias Pathoo Narejo, Iqbal Narejo (each carrying head money of Rs one million), Abbas Narejo (brother of Iqbal Narejo), Akhtiyar Narejo (son-in-law of notorious Nazroo Narejo who was killed few years ago), Malan Shaikh alias Maloo Shaikh and Waheed Rind. Khairpur police helped Larkana police by sealing the entire riverine area of their limits so that criminals could not escape.

The police also claimed to have recovered huge quantities of ammunition from their possession which included two anti-aircraft guns, rocket launchers, bullets, KK, 3G and 4G rifles.

SSP Larkana Masood Bangash got a tip at midnight that a gang of hardened bandits was hiding in the riverine area. He then immediately ordered movement of his cops to the Ketty Mumtaz police station which too is located in the katcha area of Larkana district.

The whereabouts of the dacoits, who were wanted by police in kidnapping for ransom, murder, robberies and other heinous crimes, were also traced through digital devices. Seeing heavy police contingents, the bandits opened fire which was retaliated, a police officer told this scribe. The hardened criminals started running in the jungle which were followed and killed in the retaliatory firing within the limits of Khairpur district riverine area.

On Wednesday, two cops were injured by the bandits during a search operation in the riverine area of Bakrani which included PSO of the SSP. SSP Masood Bangash was contacted to have further details but his cell phone number was off.
