Skill development for youth termed crucial

Hyderabad: Skilled youth alone can transform Pakistan and training is a key to personal and professional excellence and future headway. This 4-month hands-on training experience in computer system, accounting, medical representative imperatives and social mobilization tool-kit will greatly enhance the trainees’ employment prospects in public, private and corporate industry.

This is what Vice-Chancellor Sindh University Prof. Dr. Fateh Mohammad Burfat said to hundreds of male and female students packing Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of Arts Faculty of University of Sindh, Jamshoro, while presiding over the conclusion ceremony of the 4-month skill development program organized by Institute of Business Administration of the varsity in-collaboration with Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development (BBSYP) yesterday.

Dr. Burfat further said that Pakistan was fortunate to comprise more than 60 percent youth population. “These youth, when given quality education, most innovative skill development orientation, positive perspectives on life and accurate direction will alter the destiny of the country”, he said.

Event Chief Guest Sindh Minister for Information Technology Dr. Sikandar Ali Shoro said that the need to concentrate more closely on imparting youth with necessary technological wherewithal was the dire need of the times.

He said that he was honored to be at Sindh University premises which he termed his second home and “mini Sindh” as it comprised students from almost all parts of the province.

Dr. Shoro urged on the students to pull out of their paranoia to serve only in public sector institutions. “There is a mighty myriad of opportunities out there in the private and corporate world –go grab your space there by dint of your diligence”, he urged on the youth.

Dr. Shoro informed that Government of Sindh was working laboriously to bring about technology revolution in the province. “We are about to provide full, 24/7 Wi-Fi accessibility to eight universities in Sindh – this project is close to completion and subsequent implementation”, he intimated.

He announced construction of IT park at Sindh University Campus and congratulated the training participants, declaring them “trained and skill future human resource of Sindh”.

CEO Mehran Television Network Ghulam Nabi Morai said that they lived in a world which was pre-eminently determined by technological, professional corporate and skilled strains.

He said never ever in the past it was as necessary to equip oneself with life and digital skills as it now had become “we simply cannot survive if we do not know how to handle ultra-modern computer gadgets and possess other life skills”, he reiterated.

BBSYDP Secretary Shariq Ahmed, Sindh University IBA Director Dr. Imamuddin Khoso and others also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Dr. Khoso presented welcome note and filled in the audience on the aims and objectives of the program. Towards the end, certificates were distributed among the trainers and participants of this 4-month duration training project.
