Karachi:Defending Champion Federal Areas and Balochistan recorded impressive victories on the opening day of the 8th NBP Disabled T-20 Pentangular Cup 2019 here at NBP Sports Complex Ground on Monday.
Federal Areas thrashed Punjab by eight wickets. Punjab batted first against and scored 148-10 in 19.3 overs. Wajid Alam batted well for the side scoring 71 runs off 48 balls. Gohar Ali bowled lethally and picked three wickets for 19 runs. Jahanzaib Tiwana picked two for 29 runs.
In response, Federal Areas easily reached the victory total in 14.5 overs with eight wickets in hand. Jahanzaib Tiwana played a brilliant and unbeaten 80-run knock off only 40 balls and was later adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
In another match, Balochistan defeated Sindh by five wickets. Sindh batted first and put on board a big total of 203-3 in 20 overs Muhammad Aslam (78 off 42 balls) and Altaf Ahmed (65 off 51 balls) batted well for the side.
However, Balochistan reached the big total in response on the last ball of their inning – thanks to Adil Abbasi’s quick-fire 118-knock, which came off only 59 balls. He smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes. Matloob Qureshi contributed 52 off 48 balls.
