Sports: Football: Royal FC, FC Thunderbolts qualify for Hyderabad Intra City Championship 2019

Karachi:Royal FC has claimed the title of eight-team Leisure Leagues Hyderabad Season 4 while runner-up team FC Thunderbolts along with Royal FC has also qualified for next year’s Hyderabad Intra City Championship.

The final match between Royal FC and FC Thunderbolts has ended in a goalless draw at Wapda Ground in Hyderabad. Royal FC claimed the title after it was adjudged winner of the league on the basis of better goal difference.

Shahbaz Ali Solangi (Royal FC) and Noroz Noji (FC Thunderbolts) were adjudged Best Players of the league while Best Goalie award went to Muhammad Abid Memon (Royal FC).

Leisure Leagues has established an impressive infrastructure where top performing teams from its several leagues and tournaments, held in their respective cities quality for intra-city leagues. The champion side of the intra-city leagues, which held in different cities of the country, qualify for leisure leagues national finals.

The winner of the national finals gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to qualify from Pakistan to represent the country in the Socca World Cup, which saw its inaugural edition held in Portugal earlier this year. Lahore’s ICAW qualified for the mega event after going through the leisure leagues qualification process. It featured in the tournament against top football playing nations and also won the ‘Fair Play’ award.
