Sports: Softball: Tehmina Asif elected as SFP Chairperson

Quetta:Tehmina Asif has been elected unanimously as Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) Chairperson during Annual General Meeting of SFP held here in Quetta at a local hotel.

The meeting was presided over by SFP President Haider Khan Lehri. The meeting was also attended by SFP Secretary Asif Azeem, vice presidents, associate secretaries and members.

Balochistan Softball Association (BSA) Secretary Nasim Khan proposed the name of Tehmina Asif for the post of SFP chairperson, which was unanimously accepted by the members.

Haider Khan Lehri lauded Tehmina Asif for leading National Softball Academy successfully in a short period of time by promoting the game of softball.

He added that academy under Tehmina Asif has supplied softball equipments to provincial associations from academy platform.

“Tehmina Asif has made possible the establishment of Pakistan’s first softball team owned by private entity – Omar Associates women softball team. Meanwhile, in just six months NSA has hosted World Softball Day, Olympic Day, Independence Day Softball Festival, and Defense Day Inter-Provincial Championship, which is a great feat,” Lehri said.

“I hope Tehmina Asif, in her new capacity as Chairperson SFP, will further help in promoting and making softball progress in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, it was also decided in the meeting that Lahore will host 15th National Women Softball Championship next year. Abbottabad will host Men’s National Softball Championship next year.

It has also been decided in the meeting to give only playing rights to departmental teams. Members were also asked to give the input regarding softball team participation and preparation for next year’s National Games in Quetta.

Lehri has also directed provincial association to hold their elections this year by December. He also asked provincial secretaries to prepare their last year’s activity report and next year’s activity plan, which will be put on SFP’s website.
