Karachi: Zoya Khalid, Madina Zafar, Faiza Zafar and Amna Fayyaz cruised into the semifinals of women’s event after winning their respective quarterfinal matches of Pakistan Squash Circuit-I at Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad on Friday.
Zoya Khalid took 17 minutes to beat Noor Ul Ain Ejaz in straight sets by 12-10, 11-4, 11-4 score. Madina Zafar overcame Moqaddas Ashraf, who retired from the match when the former was leading the match by 6-11, 11-4, 4-0 score.
Meanwhile, Faiza Zafar faced stiff resistance from Riffat Khan before recording 4-11, 11-2, 11-13, 11-6, 11-6 victory in 35 minutes.
Amna Fayyaz overpowered Noor UI Huda registering a 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 victory in 19 minutes.
In men’s quarterfinals, Farhan Zaman recovered twice to beat stubborn Zahir Shah by 6-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-4, 11-7 score after a 42-minute encounter.
Farhan Mehboob took 39 minutes to beat Danish Atlas by 11-9, 14-12, 6-11, 11-6 score. Although Amaad Fareed overpowered Tayyab Aslam in straight sets by 11-5, 15-13, 11-6 score but it took him 47 minutes to register win.
In the longest match of the day, Israr Ahmad took 72 minutes to beat M Asim Khan by 11-8, 11-13, 11-6, 11-7 score to qualify for semifinals.
