State-of-the-art cardio service starts at NICVD Sehwan Sharif

KARACHI/SEHWAN: The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Karachi in collaboration with Sindh Government has established one more NICVD Centre to provide state of the art cardiovascular services to the people of Sindh province at their doorstep in Sehwan Sharif now.

While congratulating on achieving this milestone, the Chief Guest Chairman PPP, Bilawal Bhutto said that it gives him a great pleasure to inaugurate NICVD’s fourth Satellite Center in Sehwan Sharif to serve the people of Sindh province at their doorstep. He appreciated NICVD and the Sindh government for taking commendable steps in providing state-of the-art cardiac facilities for the people of Sindh Province.

He said that this collaboration has done wonders in the city of Karachi by starting free of cost cardiac treatment and now they are here to initiate major cardiac facility for both adults and children and especially services of Interventional Cardiology and heart attack management, which will be of huge comfort for the natives of Sehwan and its peripheries. He further added that in following months, more such centers with comprehensive heart care facilities would be functional in different cities of Sindh Province.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that it is a matter of enormous pride and honour for NICVD to start fourth Satellite Center in collaboration with the Government of Sindh at his native city, Sehwan Sharif.

He further said that NICVD Centers established in 2017 in Larkana, Tando Mohammad Khan and Hyderabad, have been busy in providing world class cardiac facilities to the heart patients and this new major cardiac facility at Sehwan is another milestone to treat heart patients at their hometown. He further committed to continue supporting NICVD for the cardiac care advancement and these types of projects.

Executive Director, NICVD, Prof Nadeem Qamar said that It gives him immense pleasure that NICVD being one of the best cardiac hospital of this country, has stepped into Sehwan now and is providing major cardiac facilities especially Interventional Cardiology in collaboration with the Government of Sindh to the people of Sindh at their doorstep for free.

NICVD Centres at Larkana, Tando Mohammad Khan and Hyderabad has been doing wonders and saving lives. 751 heart patients at NICVD Larkana, 337 at NICVD Tando Mohammad Khan, 134 at NICVD Hyderabad and 22 at NICVD Sehwan were treated successfully since the inception of these centres in April 2017, October 2017, November 2017 and December 2017 respectively.

He said that it is another huge achievement of NICVD in the continuing journey towards excellence in cardiovascular healthcare. They have arrived at this point with the support of the Government of Sindh.

NICVD’s team of cardiologists, technical staff, nurses and management have helped in setting the course of efforts to bring the most advanced and specialized heart care to the region and country.

He further added that this center is providing services including Cardiac Emergency, Interventional Cardiology especially Primary PCI, which is angioplasty during heart attack, Adult &Paediatric Cardiology, Critical Care, Echocardiography, and Consulting Clinics, to the population of Sehwan Sharif and its peripheries.

It is a matter of enormous pride that NICVD is opening four more such centers in Sukkur, Nawabshah, Khairpur and Mithi, which will be operational during this year, so that cardiac services can be promptly and easily accessible to people of entire Sindh at their doorstep.

Health Minister Sindh, Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, Health Secretary Sindh, Dr Fazlullah Pechuho, and officers of district administration and hospital management were also present.
