Top meeting held to improve condition of Sindh’s barrages

SUKKUR: Sindh Minister for Irrigation Department Jam Khan Shoro presided over a meeting regarding the improvement of the Sindh’s barrages in order to review the status of ongoing projects and other issues related to Sukkur Barrage with the officers of irrigation department in the office of the Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage, left bank region in Sukkur.

During the meeting, the concerned officers of irrigation department gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister on the importance of Sukkur Barrage, its water discharge capacity, issues faced by Sukkur Barrage and its possible solutions and other matters in details.

Shoro directed the Project Director, Sindh Barrages Improvement Project, Ghulam Mohiuddin Mughal, to take steps for finalization of feasibility report regarding Sukkur Barrage under the Barrages Improvement Program funded by World Bank by the end of November this year.

He also directed the officers to summon a meeting after every 15 days to review the progress of the ongoing work of the World Bank funded projects? Shoro further directed the relevant officers of Sukkur Barrage, Guddu Barrage and Kotri Barrage that they would come along their complete detailed presentation on barrages in the next meeting of Barrages Improvement project.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Secretary Irrigation Sohail Ahmad Qureshi, Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage Left Bank Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage Right Bank Wali Muhammad Naich, Managing Director SIDA Pritam Das and other officers.
