Two more die of dengue in Karachi

KARACHI:Dengue viral fever has claimed two more lives in a private sector hospital of Karachi city in 24-hours, taking the death toll from this mosquito-borne disease to 42 since Jan 01, 2019.

A 48-year old woman, resident of North Nazimabad, and a three-month old baby boy Rufyan, resident of Gulshan e Maymar died in a private hospital of the city due to dengue related complications.

Spokesman Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) Sindh, while talking to PPI, confirmed the death of two persons in a private hospital due to dengue fever and informed that a total 42 people had been died in Karachi hospitals this year so far.

More dengue cases in Karachi: As many as 112 new dengue fever cases surfaced across the Sindh province in a day, out of them 101 were reported in Karachi and 11 in other districts.

In November, a total of 5,750 dengue positive cases emerged throughout the province out of which 5,265 were confirmed from Karachi and 485 from other districts.

In 2019, a total of 15,304 dengue cases were detected in Sindh province so far out of which, 14,241 happened in Karachi and 1063 in other districts.
