Why Sindh govt is silent over Saima rape case: moot told

LARKANA: Civil society activists, trade union, political and religious parties on Monday condemned the brutal rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl Saima Jarwar and demanded to expedite the investigations into the case and ensure that culprits are punished.

They demanded this at a press conference held at a local press club here on Monday. The press conference was also attended by Child Rights Movement Sindh Chapter Coordinator Kashif Bajeer, JUI Leader Nasir Mehmood Soomro, Chief of Jarwar Tribe Sardar Ali Jarwar, Larkana Chamber of Commerce President Masood Shaikh, Jamait Islami District Ameer Kashid Saeed Shaikh, Larkana Shehri Itehad President Niaz Abro, Civil Society activists Afzal Shaikh, Yasir Jatoi, Junaid Dahar, Qadir Bux Kamanger, Advocate Sattar Hulio, Aziz Qasmani and others.

Bajeer said that rape and murder incidents of the girls had been increasing in Sindh day by day but the Sindh government was silent over those issues. He said that after Zainab, Asma Bibi and several others, Saima fell victim to the heinous scourge of rape a couple of days ago in Larkana but sadly, her murderers had not been arrested yet.

He observed that such ugly incidents are strongly condemnable and necessary steps should be taken to protect girls from falling prey to such incidents. He informed that 166 incidents of sexual violence against children had occurred in Sindh in the year 2018. The victim girl’s father, Naseem Jarwar, demanded formation of a medical board.

The speakers demanded that the exemplary punishment should be awarded to the culprits. They also demanded of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Sindh High Court and IGP AD Khawaja to take strict notice of the incident and provide justice to the affected family as soon as possible. They further demanded that CCTV cameras should be installed in the city so that such types of incidents could be checked.
