Woman, son killed after being hit by train

KARACHI:A woman and her son were killed after being hit by a moving train at Drigh Road Railway station area of the city on Monday, while they were crossing unfence railway track.

According to rescue sources, a 35-year-old woman, Tahira Iqbal, wife of Iqbal, and her son Muneeb Rehman, aged 3, were killed after being hit by a train at Drigh Road Railway track. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

Every years dozens of people die in Karachi during attempt to cross unfenced rail track that runs between the city amongst densely populated neighborhoods.

The government of Pakistan and its railways department despite repeated appeals of citizens have so far failed to get this killer railway track properly fenced to save precious lives.
