10 senior MLOs appointed in Karachi hospitals

KARACHI:Sindh Health Department has posted three female and seven male doctors as senior medico-legal officers (MLOs) at Police Surgeon Karachi office.

 

According a notification, Dr Nasreen Bano (BPS-18) presently working in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre has been appointed as Senior Women Medical Legal Officer (WMLO) at JPMC. Similarly, Dr Sangeeta Kumari working in CHK has been assigned as Senior WMLO at the same hospital, while Dr Tasneem Akhter performing duty in Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital Karachi has been appointed as Senior WMLO at her own hospital.

 

On other hand, seven other doctors have also been assigned to work as Senior MLOs at Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Sindh Government New Karachi Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, Sindh Government Hospital Saudabad and Sindh Government Hospital Korangi-5.

 

Karachi Police Surgeon, Dr Hamid Z Jilani, while talking to PPI, said posting of WMLOs and MLOs in medico-legal centres would help early disposal of fresh rape, gender based violence, assault, injuries, dead bodies and other cases. He explained that ideally there should be at least four women and six male MLOs in every hospital.
