14-member bar team appears before Indian Apex Court

New Delhi, August 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): A 14-member team of lawyers from High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir (HCBA) was present to argue its application for intervention in a petition seeking abrogation of Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution when it came before the Indian Supreme Court for hearing.

Besides the intervention application moved by the HCBA, 12 other applications seeking intervention were listed before the bench on Monday. The bench, however, listed a case along with applications in the week commencing August 27. In the intervention application, the HCBA has taken the stand that in keeping with the constitutional position and historical background, the provisions granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir cannot be abrogated.

The team of lawyers appeared before the bench comprised Mian Abdul Qayoom, Zafar Ahmed Shah, RA Jan, Altaf Haqqani, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Nazir Ahmed Ronga, Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen, Muhammad Shafi Reshi, Muhammad Ashraf Butt, Bashir Siddique, Aadil Asimi, Muhammad Yousuf and Mian Muzaffar. Additional Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta, represented the puppet administration of occupied Kashmir.
