19 doctors turn ghost out of 20 at Madeji Hospital

MADEJI: Only one doctor is performing government duty at Government Hospital in Madeji out of 20 doctors posted here, 19 are ghost and are just drawing salaries while sitting at home and running their private clinics.

This was alleged by the protesters of civil society, including different political and non-political organizations who staged a demonstration outside the Government Hospital here on Wednesday demanding proper health care facilities for people of Madeji and its hundreds of surrounding villages.

While talking to media persons, Niaz Brohi, Rashid Junejo, Mazhar Abro, Azad Junejo, Imdad Brohi and others further alleged that the only hospital is facing acute shortage of required medical facilities which is evident from the fact that all emergency patients are either referred to Sukkur or Chandka Hospital of Larkana and during shifting most of them lose their precious lives which is cruelty. They said out of 20 doctors only one is performing round the clock duty due to their influence and involvement of political persons which must be curbed with iron hands of law adding 19 ghost doctors be forced to perform their government duties here forthwith or they should be dismissed from their service.

Medical Superintendent, Dr. Abdullah Channo said that the hospital is facing acute shortage of doctors and other facilities for which he has written to the concerned government authorities several times but nothing has so far been done. He said he himself is performing OPD and night duties which speaks highly about the medical facilities available at the Madeji Hospital not to speak of other things.

District Health Officer, Shikarpur, was contacted to have his input but he did not attend the call. The protesters urged the Sindh Government authorities to listen to their woes and sufferings and order updating of the hospital so that poor ailing populace should not suffer for sheer negligence of quarters concerned.
