14 more Covid patients die in Sindh

KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the coronavirus situation in the province was worsening with increasing current detection rate which had reached to 6.4 percent when 11,146 tests were conducted and 14 more patients lost their lives.   “We all have to bring change to our lifestyle by making SOPs as part of our day to day life; otherwise, the government will have no option but to take drastic measures,” he said in a statement issued here from CM House on Wednesday.   Shah said that 14 more patients lost their lives overnight in Sindh, lifting the death toll to 2,704 that constituted 1.8 percent death rate. “We had 17 deaths stemming from the virus on November 4, 12 on November 6, and 14 on Wednesday,” he disclosed and added “our death rate ...

500,000 pneumonia cases in Sindh recorded this year

KARACHI:Provincial Health Department has registered more than 500,000 pneumonia cases in Sindh province since 1st January to 31 October 2020, PPI learnt Saturday.   As per statistics issued by District Health Information System, upto 500,000 pneumonia cases had been reported in Sindh province till date out of them 300 died so far.   The number of pneumonia cases are on the rise in the province and around 187,000 cases were recorded last month after beginning of summer weather. The pneumonia is a lung disease caused by viral or bacterial infections. Youth’s nose cut over Karo-Kari charge

GHOTKI:The nose of a youth was cut over the notorious tradition of Karo-Kari in Khanbhra locality near Ghotki on Saturday.   According to local police, accused persons held youth Ali Khoso and cut his nose with a sharp edge devise after leveling the charge of Karo-Kari against him.   The people present on the occasion captured two accused Arsalan and Ahmed Khoso and handed them over to the police. The police have started a probe into the incident.  

Tahir and Zeeshan take five-fers in National U19 Three-Day

KARACHI:Southern Punjab’s Tahir Hussain and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Zeeshan Ahmed took five wickets each in the third round matches of the National U19 Three-Day on Saturday.   Resuming their first innings on 78 for two in 18 overs at Country Club in Muridke, Sindh were bowled out for 207 in 49.3 overs. Adeel Meo top-scored with a 52-ball 53, hitting seven fours and a six. Saim Ayub was other notable run-getter with 45 off 81 balls, laced with nine fours.   For Southern Punjab, left-arm pacer Tahir took five wickets for 85 in 21 overs, while Faisal Akram took four for 77.   In reply, Southern Punjab were 67 for one in 17 overs when stumps were drawn on day two. Girl gang-raped near Jati

SUJAWAL:A girl was gang-raped in Deh Phuli area near Jati on Saturday.   According to the victim family, the girl was kidnapped, gang-raped and then abandoned in unconscious condition by the accused at an isolated place.   She was shifted to a Sujawal hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police have arrested suspect Wikio Jat and started a probe into the incident. The incident has shocked the family.

HYDERABAD:An elderly man committed suicide at a locality near Hyderabad on Saturday.   The 65-year-old victim, identified as Abdul Hakeem Brohi, reportedly committed suicide at his house near Hyderabad. The cause behind the suicide could not be ascertained yet.   The body was shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs. The police have started a probe into the case. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere among the victim family members and relatives.
