COVID-19 in Sindh claims 19 more lives, infects 1419 others

Karachi, November 29, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 13 more patients of COVID-19 died overnight in Sindh, lifting the death toll to 2,924 and 1419 more cases emerged when 10,081 tests were conducted. In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that 13 more patients lost their lives while struggling against the virus lifting the death toll to 2,924 that constituted 1.7 percent death rate. Shah said that 10,081 samples were tested which diagnosed 1,419 cases that constituted 14 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 1,971,936 tests have been conducted against which 173,014 patients were diagnosed, of them 88 percent or 151,529 have recovered, including 764 overnight. Celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary begin in Nankana Sahib

Islamabad, November 29, 2020 (PPI-OT): The three-day celebrations of the 551st birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak have begun in Nankana Sahib. Over 600 Sikh pilgrims have arrived from India through the Wagah border to participate in the celebrations. The main ceremony of the celebration will be held at Gurdwara Janamasthan in Nankana Sahib tomorrow, which will end after the Nagar Kirtan procession followed by the Bhog ritual at night. Various departments have already completed necessary arrangements, including security, accommodation, food, healthcare and transport, to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims. Anti-polio campaign starts in Punjab, Sindh from Monday

Islamabad, November 29, 2020 (PPI-OT): Anti-polio campaign of varied duration will start in Punjab and Sindh from tomorrow (Monday). In Punjab, twenty million children will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the five-day campaign. More than one hundred twenty thousand polio workers will take part in it. In Sindh, approximately nine million children under five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops during seven days campaign. Strict WHO recommended COVID-19 prevention protocols will be ensured during the campaign.
