Father, his two children die in Karachi accident

KARACHI: Two children and their father were killed in a road accident in Karachi on Wednesday. According to rescue sources, a speeding dumper-truck hit a motorcycle in Ahsanabad area of Karachi, leaving the man and his two children dead while on other child suffered injuries. Those died were identified man Fazal, and children Anabia and Sufian. The injured was Zohan. The bodies and injured were rushed to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities. A mourning atmosphere prevailed in the house of the victims. The police have started investigation into the incident.

Call to develop specialized system to handle 1,100 tonnes of hospital waste

KARACHI: There is no separate handling on modern lines of around 1,100 tonnes of garbage generated from hospitals in Karachi daily as haphazard disposal of medical waste creates a serious public health risk. This was stated by the Dean of Architecture and Management Sciences of the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Prof Dr Noman Ahmed, in his keynote address at the National Waste Management Conference organized by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) here at a local hotel, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. Govt considering tax waiver for exporting entities, Miftah tells summit

ISLAMABAD: The government is considering promoting exports of the country at an aggressive level through an incentive of significant tax waiver to companies which could enhance their exports by 10% of its productions. This was stated by Dr Miftah Ismail, Minister of Finance while addressing as a chief guest at the two-day 5th Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit held at a local hotel on Wednesday. Gill sent on 48-hour physical remand in sedition case

ISLAMABAD: A sessions court on Wednesday handed over senior PTI leader Shahbaz Gull to police for 48 hours physical remand once again in a sedition case. Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhary took up the case again in compliance of the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) over the government's plea against judicial remand of Gill in the said case. During the hearing, Advocate Salman Safdar and Advocate Faisal Chaudhry appeared before the court to represent Gill who was still behind the bars. 1133 gastro cases emerge in Naundero region; Two kids die

NAUNDERO: As many as 1133 gastroenteritis cases have emerged in and around Naundero during the past 10 days out of which two children have died. After heavy monsoon rains diarrhea cases emerged in Garhi Khuda Bux, Naundero, Panjudero, Chamb Jeho, Alhando Jeho and other villages and turned out to be an epidemic. 27 children were admitted alone today at Government Hospital here on Wednesday who were suffering from gastro and 13 among them were referred to Children Hospital of Larkana due to their precarious condition and lack of proper medical facilities here in the hospital which include unavailability of post-graduate doctors.
