Durrani shocked over singer Nayyara Noor’s demise

KARACHI: Acting Governor Sindh Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of famous singer Nayyara Noor. In his condolence message, the acting governor said Nayyara Noor was a great singer with a unique singing style as she immortalized many ghazals with her singing. Durrani further said that she entertained the masses with her singing for many decades, and vacuum created with her death would not be filled for a long time.

PM discusses flood situation with COAS, NDMA chairman

KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday discussed the flood situation and relief operations in the country with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt General Akhtar Nawaz. The PM made a telephonic contact with the COAS and NDMA chairman to discuss the situation of flood affectees and relief and rehabilitation operations in the flood-hit areas, especially in Sindh province. Dharejo inspects rain situation, relief work in Sukkur

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department and Rain Emergency Incharge Sukkur Jam Ikramullah Dharejo Sunday visited different areas of Sukkur and inspected situation, developed after rains and ongoing relief work as well. On this occasion, the district authorities also accompanied the provincial minister. Dharejo visited various areas of Sukkur, including Miani Disposal, City Point, Dua Chowk, monitored the drainage works and issued orders to the concerned authorities for immediate drainage of the rain water. Strict code of conduct issued for PTI rally

Rawalpindi: Fearing threats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally, District Administration of Rawalpindi has issued a strict code of conduct and its Chairman Imran Khan will be bound to follow the instructions, according to a report Sunday. According to the notification, all VIPs and organizers including Imran Khan will be bound to cooperate with the administration and police. Khan will be bound by the code of conduct to speak from a bulletproof cabin while he would be escorted to the stage and back in a security fence. PTI candidate leading in NA-245 Karachi by-polls

KARACHI: A PTI candidate is leading in the by-election in NA-245 seat of Karachi as per the results from 120 polling stations 263. According to unofficial results from 145 polling stations, PTI candidate Mehmood Maulvi was leading with 15,961 votes, MQM-Pakistan's Mueed Anwar got 6,088 votes, TLP's Muhammad Ahmed Raza obtain 4,618 votes, while independent candidate Farooq Sattar secured 1676. The number of polling stations in the NA-245 by-election constituency in Karachi is 263. The total number of voters in NA-245 constituency is 515,003. Three children died in Garelo

LARKANA: Two little sons and a daughter of Syed Pervaiz Ali Shah died under the debris of his home in Garello near here on Sunday when the roof of his house fell down due to intermittent rain. They were identified as Kashan Ali, Ihtesham Ali and Bisma Shah. All his neighbours gathered to rescue the children but failed.
