Journalist Siddique Kappan to remain in jail despite Indian SC’s bail order

New Delhi, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Kerala-based journalist, Siddique Kappan, will continue to remain in a jail despite being granted bail by the Indian Supreme Court. A court on Monday issued the release order of Siddique Kappan, who was lodged in jail after his arrest in October 2020 while he was on his way to Hathras area of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where a Dalit woman had died after being gang-raped by upper-caste Hindus. DG Jail PRO Santosh Verma told the media that Siddique Kappan will continue to remain in jail as a case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate is still pending. UP government begins survey of madrasas

Lucknow, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The government in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh started, today, the process of conducting a survey of the madrasas (Islamic education institutions). Muslim organizations and leaders have strongly opposed the UP government’s move. Bulandshahr Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Arvind Kumar Singh, said the survey of all unrecognised (private) madrasas is starting in Uttar Pradesh from today. Acting upon a government order, the teams of officials for the madrasas survey have been constituted by District Magistrate (DM). “As per government orders, a survey of all unrecognized Madrasas is to be done. Three minors injured after unexploded shell left by Indian Army goes off in Shopian

Srinagar, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, three boys were injured, today, after an unexploded shell went off in Shopian district. A blast occurred when an unexploded shell, deliberately left behind by Indian Army during a cordon and search operation, exploded when some boys were fiddling with it in Heff Shirmal area of Shopian, resulting in injuries to three of them. The injured boys were shifted to Primary Health Centre Littar, where their condition was said to be stable. Indian troops had martyred one youth during a cordon and search operation launched in Heff Shirmal, yesterday.
