Imran’s disqualification: IHC stops ECP from holding by-poll in NA-95

KARACHI: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday stopped Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from holding by-election in NA-95. IHC, while hearing Imran Khan’s petition against disqualification by the election commission in Toshakhana reference, removed objections of the registrar on the plea. PTI Chairman s counsel urged the court to suspend ECP’s decision disqualifying Imran Khan. However, Justice Farooq turned down the request and issued orders to stop the by-election in Mianwali. Excise police recover 35kg hashish, capture two accused

KARACHI: Excise Police Rohri on Monday claimed to have recovered 35kg hashish from a suspicious vehicle and arrested an accused. According to official information, the Excise Police Rohri, under the supervision of Excise Inspector Qamaruddin Sial, arrested accused Izzatullah Achakzai from Excise Check Post Rohri near Arora University National Highway. Datsun No. WAC-053 Quetta was being used in smuggling 35 kg hashish. The accused has been arrested and investigation has started. The vehicle used in smuggling has also been impounded. Sindh Cabinet decides to convene conference on flood devastation

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah with the approval of the Sindh Cabinet decided on Monday to convene a two-day international conference to discuss the destruction caused by floods in the province and explore technical ways to reconstruct the irrigation and draining system so that future calamities impact could be mitigated. “Our river system, bridges on River Indus, drainage systems such as RBOD, LBOD, MNV, and flood protection embankments have failed to sustain the impact of heavy downpours and floods of 2022, therefore, we have to gather all the experts, including of the world bank, to discuss the floods and necessity of redesigning the irrigation and drainage system so that future climate pressures could be sustained accordingly.” This he said while presiding over...

Minor boy dies of roof collapse in Larkana

LARKANA: A 13-month minor boy Shaukat was killed and his uncle Dilmurad Jamali was injured when a roof fell on them in Osta Muhammad, Balochistan, on Monday. They were at the very outset taken to the government hospital in Osta Muhammad where doctors described critical condition of the boy and referred him to Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment and further management, hence his heirs rushed him to CMCH where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday. Misry Jamali, brother of the injured Dilmurad, told newsmen that his brother was working at a nearby place when roof of the building suddenly collapsed due to which 13-month-old Shoukat was critically injured who died here.
