Chief Minister Grants Approval to Establish Theme Park in The Safari Zoo

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): On the special direction of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi recreational facilities will be provided in the Lahore Zoo and the Safari Zoo and the decision to reorganize Lahore Zoo and Safari Zoo has been taken in this regard.

 

CM has also granted approval to establish a theme park in the Safari Zoo in order to provide quality recreational facilities to the children of a common man. CM disclosed that the Safari Zoo will be made a recreation place of an international level adding that South Asian and African theme zones will be established in the Safari Zoo.

 

He revealed that food courts will be established in the Lahore Zoo and the Safari Zoo in the forest environment and the food courts will remain open at night also.CM presided over a meeting in which a decision has been made to establish Zoo and Wildlife Management Authority in order to provide maximum recreational facilities to the children of the common man.

 

CM accorded approval to establish Zoo and Wildlife Management Authority and stated that the Zoo and Wildlife Management Authority will work for the construction and restoration of the zoo houses and safari zoos across Punjab.

 

He highlighted that legislation will be done for setting up Zoo and Wildlife Management Authority and an Act will soon be presented in the Punjab Assembly for establishing this authority. Joy land, tram structure and other facilities will be provided in the safari zoo and bird shows will also be organized in the Lahore Zoo for the interest of children.

 

CM directed that the proposal to establish food courts on the 7 kanal land adjoining with the Lahore Zoo and Bagh-e-Jinnah will be reviewed adding that facilities will further be improved as well as made attractive in the zoos so that maximum number of people can come for recreation.

 

CM further directed that innovations like tiger tunnel should be introduced in the Safari Zoo adding that a ride history gallery should be established in the Lahore Zoo and Safari Zoo to provide awareness to the children about the history.

 

He further directed that breeding of the birds should be reviewed in the Zoo and Safari Zoo. He said that he directed to establish a master plan to provide better recreational facilities in the safari zoo during his previous tenure. Unfortunately, the PML-N government politicized this programme like many other projects.

 

Shahbaz Sharif halted our every work which incurred loss to the national exchequer. CM presided over a meeting at CMO today in which DG Wildlife gave him a briefing regarding Lahore Zoo and Safari Zoo. Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, former Principal Secretary GM Sikandar, former bureaucrat Shumail Ahmed Khawaja, Secretary Forests, Secretary Information, DG Wildlife, DGPR and concerned officials attended the meeting.

Chairman CM Complaint Cell Presides Over a High Level Meeting

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): Chairman Chief Minister Complaint Cell Punjab Zubair Ahmad Khan presided over the high level meeting on video link at CM office. In which the Director Chief Minister Chief Minister complained cell, Advisor to Chief Minister for Digital Media and other district chairmen participated in the meeting.

 

The district chairmen, Chief Minister Complaint Cell gave a detailed briefing on the performance of their respective districts. Chairman Chief Minister complaint Cell Zubair Ahmad Khan while addressing the meeting said that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi is being regularly informed about the performance of complaint Cell.

 

Punjab Chief Minister has proved in his first 50 days that he is a public Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is giving equal importance to every district of Punjab. He further said that our effort is to solve public problems on top priority. Chief Minister Complaint Cell offices are fully operational at the district level for the assistance and convenience of the public.

 

All public complaints are being redressed in minimum time. Zubair Ahmad Khan further said that regular training is being given to district chairman and vice-chairmen for resolution of complaints. So that complaints can be resolved efficiently and effectively.

 

He further said that there is a strict directive from the Punjab Chief Minister that strict action will be taken against those who do not perform well or who are negligent. Chief Minister Complaint Cell is monitoring the performance of district teams on the basis of inspection.

PFA Unearths Unit Producing Fabricated Milk in Kangangpur

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has unearthed a unit producing thousands of litres fabricated milk with hazardous chemicals on a daily basis while the unit was established in a house in Kanganpur on Kasur Road. PFA Director General Mudassar Riaz Malik said that the PFA’s vigilance cell has traced the unit after day and night hectic efforts. He said that PFA has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against three accused including Ashraf, Waqar and Waseem in the nearest police station on account of adulteration.

 

He said that the operation was continued against the milk adulteration mafia for at least 18 hours. The team has confiscated 3,000 litres of chemically contaminated milk, 50kg of glucose, nine drums of rancid oil, 50 bags of urea powder, four mixing machines, two pumps, gas cylinder and plastic drums during the raid, he added.

 

The director general said that fabricated milk was produced with the help of harmful chemicals, dirty oil and other ingredients. He further said that milk adulteration mafia usually adopt the wicked practice of food adulteration to mint money which is a heinous crime.

 

Mudassar has requested the general public to point out fabricated milk production units for rooting out the menace of adulteration from Punjab. The provincial food regulatory body has been bringing a new system and law to ensure the provision of pure milk at the doorstep of the public, DG said.

ACE Holds Open Court to Redress Public Issues

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): Anti-Corruption Establishment will take action against the plaintiffs who make false applications under 182 PPC, which is punishable by six months in prison. Adviser to CM for Anti-Corruption Musadaq Abbasi and Director General Anti-Corruption Nadeem Sarwar stated this while holding an open court at DG ACE on Tuesday.

 

The advisor made it clear that along with the elimination of corruption in government institutions, the officers and officials of the Anti-Corruption Department will also be held accountable. DG Anti-Corruption Nadeem Sarwar said that open courts are being held in all the regional offices to redress grievances at the regional level. Today, 35 applications have been received and immediate action has been taken, he added.

 

Among the complaints received, apart from Pakistani citizens, overseas Pakistanis have also filed their complaints. Nadeem Sarwar said that this is the second open court of the anti-corruption department in a year and the purpose is to redress people’s issues. The redressal of public complaints is the priority of the anti-corruption department, he added.

Negligent Dengue Workers to Face Action

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Provincial Dengue Monitoring Committee on Wednesday decided to take action against dengue workers who committed negligence in their duty in the high-risk districts and issued instructions to the Health Department in this regard.

 

The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Dr. Akhtar Malik and Chief Secretary Punjab Abdullah Khan Sumbal, at the Civil Secretariat. The Additional Chief Secretary (South Punjab), administrative secretaries of various departments and officers concerned attended the meeting while all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners participated through video link.

 

Provincial Minister Dr. Akhtar Malik said that the stakeholders should enhance coordination for removing discrepancies in the dengue data. He asked the officers to address the deficiencies identified in the monitoring, surveillance and reporting system. He also issued instructions to the administration in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala and Sheikhupura to remain alert in view of the dengue situation.

 

Assigning the responsibilities to the special branch regarding monitoring of dengue and smog, Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal said that the situation should be closely monitored for the next two weeks. He said that PITB must share data with the health department on a daily basis.

 

Health Secretary Dr. Irshad Ahmed gave a detailed briefing to the meeting. He said that the health department has ample stock of essential medicines and mosquito spray and more than 20 thousand dengue workers are performing field duties.

 

He mentioned that 15,306 confirmed cases of dengue and 22 deaths have been reported in the province this year. Of these, 6519 cases have been reported in Lahore so far. He said that 912 cases have been registered and 418 people have been arrested for violation of SOPs during the last two weeks.

Chief Secretary Punjab Directs Departments to Expedite Efforts for Smog Control

Lahore, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Punjab Abdullah Khan Sumbal has directed all the relevant departments to expedite the collective efforts for overcoming the smog. He issued this directive while presiding over a meeting on smog control at the Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday. The administrative secretaries of various departments including environment protection, local government, industries, agriculture, transport, and health, deputy commissioners Lahore and officers concerned attended the meeting while the deputy commissioners of Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Narowal, and Faisalabad participated through video link.

 

The Chief Secretary said that the smog situation is comparatively better than last year, but a lot of work needs to be done to control environmental pollution. He also issued orders to the Environment Protection Department to hold consultative sessions with all the stakeholders including civil society.

 

He said that the suggestions of the civil society would prove to be helpful in preventing smog. The meeting also decided to carry out inspections of all the government vehicles. Briefing the meeting, the Secretary Environment Protection Department said that in October, the authorities sealed 1058 industrial units causing environmental pollution, registered 696 cases and imposed fines of more than Rs 24 million.

 

The inspection teams sealed 583 industrial units, lodged FIRs and imposed fines of over Rs 34 million in Lahore. He said that during the last two weeks, 46,000 inspections were conducted and 3,168 smoke-emitting vehicles were impounded. Likewise, 20 cases were registered over burning garbage during the last one month. He said that due to the direction of the wind, the smoke from burning crop residues across the border is affecting Lahore.

National Assembly Speaker meets with European Union Parliamentary Delegation: NA Speaker

Islamabad, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan and European Union enjoy long-standing cordial relations based upon mutual trust and unanimity of views on important international challenges. He underlined the need to enhance inter-parliamentary relations to further strengthen Pak-EU relations. He expressed these views during his meeting with Members of European Parliament (MEPs) Mr. Herve Juvin and Ms. Virginie Joron in Parliament House Islamabad today.

 

The Speaker has said that disinformation has damaged Pakistan real image in the west. He said that Pakistan is a peace loving country. He said that dispelling this propaganda is vital to highlight peaceful image of the country. He said that Pakistan is destined to be prosper as it is developing in all socioeconomic sectors.

 

While talking about the unprecedented floods in Pakistan, the Speaker said the country has suffered loss of hundreds of lives, destruction of infrastructure, livestock and witnessed a livelihood crisis in the flood-affected areas. The Speaker appreciated EU and its member states for their immense support and humanitarian assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts for the flood affectees in Pakistan.

 

Members of European Parliament Ms. Virginie said that they visited Pakistan from Gwadar to Kashmir and they witnessed peace-loving people and beautiful Pakistan. She said that they have been in Pakistan since last week and this has absolutely changed their perception about Pakistan.

 

She said that being member of EU Parliament, she would be in better position to reflect true image of Pakistan in Europe. Mr. Herve Juvin talked about respecting and maintaining basic rights especially the right of identity. Later on, Members European Parliament also witnessed the session of National Assembly of Pakistan.
