Pakistan, Hungary sign agreement for enhancing defense cooperation

ISLAMABAD:On the invitation of Dr Gaspar Maroth, State Secretary for Defence Policy and Defence Development, Ministry of Defence, Hungary, Lt Gen (retd) Hamood uz Zaman Khan, Secretary Defence and Rear Admiral Faisal Amin, Additional Secretary Ministry of Defence Pakistan visited Budapest from 10-11 November 2022.   During the meeting both sides exchanged views on regional and global security and matters of mutual interest, particularly in defense collaboration. Diabetes awareness camp set up at Centaurs Mall

ISLAMABAD:In connection with the World Diabetes Day, which will be observed on Monday, an awareness health camp has been set up at Centaurs Mall in Islamabad on Saturday.   Purpose of the camp is to highlight health issues encountered by a diabetic patient. Besides free blood sugar test, blood pressure check and measurement of Body Mass Index doctors are providing free consultation to the walk-in patients.   According to a Radio Pakistan’s report, on the occasion, Dr Ali Raza said diabetes is a prevalent disease in our society which usually remains unnoticed. Govt supports NGOs to improve environment: Sindh Governor

KARACHI:Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has said that the government would do its best to help non-governmental organizations working to improve environmental conditions in increasing in tree cover. The Sindh governor expressed his resolve to this effect on behalf of the government as he met a delegation of the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH). Canada confers Gairdner International Award to eminent Pakistani healthcare professional

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Zaheer A. Janjua has hailed the conferral of Canada's annual Gairdner International Award on eminent Pakistani healthcare professional Dr Zulfiqar Bhutta.   According to details, the award was given to Dr Zulfiqar Bhutta for his development and evaluation of evidence-based interventions in child and maternal health for marginalized populations. In a statement, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Zaheer A. Janjua congratulated Dr Zulfiqar Bhutta for winning the award, calling it an “exceptional achievement” and a testament to dedication and devotion.  

Pakistan reports 48 coronavirus cases

KARACHI:Pakistan on Saturday reported no death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,574,597.   The nationwide tally of fatalities stands at 30,629 so far. According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 48 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.   Pakistan has conducted 6,542 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 48 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 0.73 percent.  

Imran Khan tries to make security institutions controversial: Kaira

ISLAMABAD:Advisor to Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira has criticized Chairman PTI Imran Khan for creating unrest in the country through long march.   Talking to a private television channel, he said Imran Khan is lying to the nation in public meetings and trying to make the security institutions controversial. Qamar Zaman Kaira said the Prime Minister has full authority to appoint the army chief on merit. He said the government is ready to hold talks with PTI for resolving political issues, but it will not accept any unconstitutional demand.
