Death anniversaries of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Patras Bukhari being observed

ISLAMABAD: The 59th death anniversary of great politician Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy and 64th death anniversary of renowned writer Patras Bukhari are being observed today (Monday). Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy was a Bengali politician and statesman in the first half of the 20th century. He served as the premier of Bengal in British India and was the fifth Prime Minister of Pakistan. Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy died in Lebanon on this day in 1963. Meanwhile, renowned writer and broadcaster Patras Bukhari born in 1898 in Peshawar. He died on this day in 1958 during his diplomatic service and was buried in Valhalla Cemetery, New York. Patras Bukhari was also awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the country’s second highest civilian award.

PM inaugurates refurbishment project of Units 5 and 6 of Mangla Dam

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated on Monday the refurbishment project of Units 5 and 6 of Mangla Dam aimed at enhancing its electricity generation capacity. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister termed the project a wonderful example of cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said a framework has been prepared to make Pakistan climate resilient country. Speaking at the National Flood Response Center here in Islamabad on Monday, he said the framework will also be presented to the international community for their support. Dense fog blankets parts of Punjab, KP, disrupts road traffic

LAHORE: Dense fog again blanketed different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, including Lahore on night between Sunday and Monday, paralyzing routine life and disrupting road traffic.
