Utility Stores’ countrywide services disrupted

ISLAMABAD: Servers of the Utility Stores Corporation across the country went down due to technical issues on Monday. Owing to the server being down, the operation of the stores had been suspended due to which the citizens were facing difficulties. According to USC officials, the server went down and flour entries at the stores were not possible due to the division of the subsidy into two parts. Officials said it’s not possible to supply the items due to the system being down and the public had queued up outside the stores. A 10kg bag of flour was available at the utility stores at Rs684 whereas cheap flour was only available to the Benazir Income Support Programme card holders at Rs400.

CDA to solarize all its buildings, offices

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to install solar systems at all of its buildings and offices as a part of energy conservation efforts, it emerged Monday. CDA Chairman Captain (r) Muhammad Usman Younis has chaired a meeting to finalize the plan to convert all the building housing offices of the civic body. It was also decided all streetlights of all the roads being constructed based on the government-to-government formula would also be converted to solar energy as a part of the pilot project. CM Elahi inaugurates new Punjab Assembly building in Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Monday inaugurated the new Punjab Assembly (PA) building that had been completed last year. It took 15 years to complete the building due to unavailability of funds and political impediments. The chief minister said the new building was constructed while keeping the needs of the next century in consideration. “The new building besides hosting 500 members of the assembly (MPAs) contains Ayes and Noes lobbies with capacities of 200 each,” he added. Three of a family killed in Matiari mishap

Matiari: Three labourers of a same family were killed due to a sudden mudfall during the digging of a well for the installation of a motor in Saeed Khan Leghari village near Matiari on Monday. The locals rushed to the scene after hearing the loud sound and after much effort retrieved bodies of 18-year-old Asad Laghari and 22-year-old Ijaz Leghari. The villagers later shifted the bodies to a local hospital. Efforts were still underway to pull out the body of 50-year-old Rasool Bakhsh Leghari.

AML chief slams coalition govt for overspending funds on cabinet members

RAWALPINDI: PTI leader and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Monday Pakistan could avert the economic default, which is knocking at the door, if fresh elections are called in the country. In a series of tweets, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had admitted deepening financial crisis but Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had turned a blind eye to what was happening in the country.
