Sindh CM for enhanced security, intelligence systems

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Thursday stressed the need for improving the existing security system, intelligence set-up and targeted operations. LHC bars ECP from proceedings of removing Imran as PTI chief

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday barred the Election Commission of Pakistan from proceedings initiated to strip Imran Khan from his position as chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference. A high court bench issued the order a day after the PTI chief filed a petition against the ECP’s proceedings. He argued that the electoral body was exceeding its powers by trying to remove him as the party head, adding that the ECP issued him the notice “illegally”. AC disposes of Buzdar’s bail plea in liquor license case

Lahore: An accountability court (AC) on Thursday disposed of the former Punjab CM Usman Buzdar’s bail plea in a case pertaining to awarding a liquor license to a hotel by violating the law. The former chief minister of Punjab is accused of allegedly receiving Rs50 million in bribes to get a liquor license issued to a hotel in violation of the law. Anti-Narcotics Force recovers huge quantity of drugs

Lahore: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a suspect on a tip-off at GT Road near Jhelum and recovered more than 39 kg of dried poppy seeds in the form of sawdust on Thursday. According to ANF spokesperson, dried poppy seeds are used in making heroin and hashish. The accused Karim Daad was a Nowshera resident. In another operation, two suspects were apprehended after 10.5kg heroin were recovered from their car at the Islamabad Motorway toll plaza. Lastly, the ANF officials raided Kamra International Courier Office and sized a parcel booked for London. The parcel contained a total of 438 grams of heroin that was tactfully hidden in women's clothes. The accused were booked in separate case under Anti-Narcotics Act.

Islamabad: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday met with the family members of Shaheed Adeel Hussain at police lines in Islamabad and presented them the Shaheed package. Police head constable Adeel Hussain was martyred in a recent suicide bombing in Islamabad. Rana Sanaullah presented a check of ten million rupees to the widow of Shaheed Adeel Hussain. Banking court orders Imran Khan to appear before IO in prohibited funding case

Islamabad: A banking court of the federal capital on Thursday directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to ensure his presence before the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) investigation officer (IO) in the prohibited funding case being pursued against his party. The court gave this direction while announcing its reserved verdict on Imran Khan’s plea seeking an extension in his pre-arrest bail in the foreign funding case. When the hearing commenced, Special Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi pleaded the court to reject Imran Khan’s plea seeking extension in the pre-arrest bail.
