Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday barred the Election Commission of Pakistan from proceedings initiated to strip Imran Khan from his position as chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference. A high court bench issued the order a day after the PTI chief filed a petition against the ECP’s proceedings. He argued that the electoral body was exceeding its powers by trying to remove him as the party head, adding that the ECP issued him the notice “illegally”. Lahore: An accountability court (AC) on Thursday disposed of the former Punjab CM Usman Buzdar’s bail plea in a case pertaining to awarding a liquor license to a hotel by violating the law. The former chief minister of Punjab is accused of allegedly receiving Rs50 million in bribes to get a liquor license issued to a hotel in violation of the law. Islamabad: A banking court of the federal capital on Thursday directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to ensure his presence before the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) investigation officer (IO) in the prohibited funding case being pursued against his party.
