Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the pledges of nine billion dollars made at Geneva Conference on Monday are a great victory of Pakistan. He was addressing the members of Pakistani delegation in Geneva on Tuesday. The Prime Minister said credit of this success goes to the team of Pakistan comprising cabinet members, envoys and other officials who worked with the sincerity of purpose. Shehbaz Sharif said the whole world saw for itself the demonstration of unity by Pakistan on a foreign land. Pakistan still needs help to recover from 2022 floods: Ned Price

Islamabad: United States has said much help is still needed in Pakistan to recover from 2022 floods. According to a Radio Pakistan’s report, in a tweet, the State Department spokesman Ned Price said the US announced at the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan an additional 100 million dollars to assist flood-hit people. Meanwhile, in a statement, USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman said, this funding reinforces America’s commitment to Pakistani people to address climate crisis.

ECP issues arrest warrants for Imran Khan, other PTI leaders in contempt case

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued bail-able arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other top leaders Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry in a contempt case. The warrants were issued by a four-member bench of the ECP headed by Member Nisar Durrani while hearing the contempt case. The ECP bench rejected the pleas of PTI leaders seeking an exemption from appearing before the commission and issued arrest warrants for them against surety bonds worth Rs50, 000 each. The ECP bench said that warrants were being issued for the appearance of the parties- Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry. The bench directed them to appear before it on January 17. Info Minister terms Geneva conference as big success for Pakistan

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has termed the Geneva conference a big success for Pakistan and the flood victims. In a statement on Tuesday, she said the conference is a recognition at the international level of the coalition government’s collective efforts. She said the pledges made at the moot will be utilized transparently to bring change in the lives of the people. She said provision of resources will help the flood victims start a new and better life. The Information Minister thanked the global and national media for effectively highlighting the cause of humanity and climate change.
