246 vehicles impounded in road checking campaign

KARACHI: A total of 3,527 vehicles were checked on the first day of the road checking campaign of Sindh Excise and Taxation Department to collect tax from the owners of tax defaulting vehicles.

According to a handout on Tuesday, 787 vehicles were checked in Karachi, 791 in Hyderabad, 963 in Sukkur, 420 in Larkana, 360 in Mirpur Khas and 206 in Shaheed Benazirabad. On the first day of the road checking campaign, a total of 246 vehicles were impounded while the documents of 280 vehicles were seized.

On the first day, a total tax of more than 26 lakh rupees was collected. Director General Excise and Taxation Sindh Aurangzeb Panhoor has said in a statement that the road checking campaign to collect tax from tax defaulting vehicles will continue till March 7. Depositing Online tax facility is also available for tax defaulting vehicle owners.
