The Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SICVD) inaugurated its 29th Chest Pain Unit (CPU) in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim Town, Karachi, on Monday.
The aim of this initiative is to expand free, life-saving emergency cardiac services throughout the province.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the guest of honor, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, alongside SICVD Executive Director Professor Javed Akbar Siyal and Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad. SICVD officials were also present at the event.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that this Chest Pain Unit is a significant gift from the Sindh Government to the people of Karachi. He emphasized that the Government of Sindh is keen on improving the healthcare sector and providing quality medical facilities to every citizen.
Professor Javed Akbar Siyal praised the role of the network of Chest Pain Units, stating that with the establishment of this 29th unit, they are providing world-class emergency services to the people of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, completely free of charge with the support of the Government of Sindh.
He further informed that over 1.7 million patients have been treated in the Chest Pain Units so far, including thousands of heart attack patients. These patients were given immediate emergency care and were transferred to central facilities for primary angioplasty once stabilized.
The new Chest Pain Unit in Gulshan-e-Hadeed is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities, emergency care, and trained staff ready to provide services for cardiac emergencies, including heart attacks.
