4 dead as flood threat looms large across IOK

Srinagar, July 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, four people died across the territory due to heavy rainfall as flood threat loomed large in the Valley. The four persons who lost their lives were identified as Tariq Ahmad Dar, Kulgam, Jameela Begam, Jammu, Inzaar Hussain, Poonch, and Aasif Ahmed, Jammu.

Tariq, a singer by profession died when he slipped into Vaishow Nallah. His body was later fished from the nullah. Jameela died on spot when a tree uprooted and feel on her tin shed in Kishtwar’s tourist area Kalamastar. Inzaar, 22, got stuck in flash flood at Suran River in Surankote and was washed away by the strong water currents.

The youth disappeared in the flash flood and later his body was fished out by divers. Aasif drowned rescuing a dog in the flood channel. Aasif was living with his family in a makeshift tent at Tenpora Byepass for the past two years. In a fearful reminder of floods in 2014, water levels have begun rising in Jhelum and its tributaries.
