4,089 drug peddlers arrested from 2007 to August 2021: Mukesh Kumar Chawla

Karachi, September 08, 2021 (PPI-OT): Sindh Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has said that 3,848 cases were registered against the drug peddlers from 2007 to August 2021 while number of accused arrested during this period was 4,089 while 493 vehicles used in this menace were confiscated and more than 1,263 kg of heroin and 74644 kg hashish were seized, says Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla while releasing details of drugs seized

Chawla says more than 241 kg opium and more than 35,568 kg of bhang were seized while 5,398 bottles of foreign liquor and 674 bottles of beer were seized and 5,576 bottles of illicit liquor and 250136 litres of illicit liquor were also seized. He said that the department takes stern action against drug dealers and to intensify operations against them, arrangements are also being made to enhance the capabilities of the officers. He said that all stakeholders of the society should discourage the use of drugs, especially parents, teachers and media should play their full role in curbing the use of drugs. Chawla said that Sindh-Punjab and Sindh-Balochistan check posts had been made more active to thwart any attempt to bring drugs to Sindh.
