LARKANA:A team of renowned surgeons removed about a 40 kg mass from the abdomen of one 50-year patient named Zameer Hussain son of Haji Allahando Chandio, resident of Kambar, at the Chandka Medical College (CMCH), Teaching Block, here on Tuesday.
The patient was admitted in CMCH’s Male Surgical Unit-I under the care of Prof. Muhammad Saleem Shaikh, a week ago on 18th January 2022 on Bed No. 7 with history of abdominal distention since 5 years but with no pain except swelling abdomen slowly and gradually. He was investigated and then it was decided to operate him at the CMCH Teaching Block Operation Theater after complete workup (investigations).
Prof. Saleem Shaikh told PPI that we were suspecting some cancer mass and in our hospital such facilities and expertise are also available in the OT. He said today he had an operation and about 40 kg of big mass was removed successfully by our team of surgeons from his abdomen arising from Lt retroprintomeises with few adjacent enlarged lymph nodes.
He said “Alhamdulillah patient has recovered fully, is stable and has been shifted in ICU for close monitoring. He said this is a huge mass removed from any patients’ abdomen I have ever done in our country”. Prof. Shaikh further said that this will be recorded in the history of surgery globally. Other members of the surgeons team include two assistant professors Dr. Abdul Sattar Abro and Dr. Nadia Yasir Bhatti.
