Islamabad, May 20, 2019 (PPI-OT): 4th Meeting of the Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training was held today under the Chairmanship of Mian Najeeb Ud Din Awaisi, MNA in Committee Room of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.
The meeting commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee confirmed the previous minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 20th March, 2019. The Chairman, Higher Education Commission gave briefing on the Agenda Item No. VI regarding the functions of the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. He also gave answers on the queries of the Members. The Committee recommended that the system of management and standard of education of public sector institutions should be maintained as up-to the mark by refining the government colleges and universities as the best learning institutions as compared to the private sector institutions in the country.
The Committee discussed the Agenda Item No. III and recommended to defer “The University of Islamabad Bill, 2019 (Government Bill)” for its next meeting on the request of the Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The Committee discussed the Agenda Item No. IV on “The Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Bill, 2019”, moved by Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA and recommended to pass the Bill on the request of the Committee Members. The Committee also discussed the Agenda Item No. V on “The Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill, 2019”, moved by Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, MNA and recommended to pass it on the request of the Committee Members. The rest of the agenda items were deferred by the Committee for its next meeting.
