4th meeting of the Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan held

Islamabad, December 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): 4th meeting of the Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan was held today i.e. 10th December , 2019, at 2:00 p.m., in Committee Room No. 7 (4th Floor), Parliament House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan, MNA.

The Secretary, M/o Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (KA and GB) informed the Committee that a Summery has been initiated by the M/o KA and GB for the Hon. Prime Minister, wherein, Prime Minister has been requested to direct the M/o National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination to extend the facility of Sehat Sahulat Card to all the vulnerable families residing along Line of Control (LoC). He added that M/o Foreign Affairs has been requested to convey the e-mail of the United Nations, where e-mail messages may be conveyed by the people.

The Member, AJK informed the Committee that Tehsil Athmuqam, District Neelum Valley caused massive destruction due to flash flood and burst/heavy rains in village Leswa, on Sunday 14th July, 2019. He further explained the measures taken by the Government of AJK for Rehabilitation of the people of Leswa village by providing financial assistance and other necessary measures.

The Senior Representative, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) also apprised the Committee about the compensation provided by the NDMA on behalf of Federal Government. The Committee expressed its apprehensions on the population residing near LoC and suggested that Government should reallocate the masses from LoC to any other safe place.

The Committee unanimously condemned the derogatory remarks given by the former Indian General S.P Sinha about the Kashmiri Women and genocide the Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). The Committee condemned the incident of desecration of Holy Quran in Norway and demanded that international community should take necessary measures to stop such kind of hateful incident in future.

The meeting was attended by MNAs/Members Mr. Mr. Saleem Rehman, Mr. Mehboob Shah, Mr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Ms. Robina Jamil, Mr. Jamshed Thomas, Mr. Ehsanullah Reki and Ms. Shamim Ara Panwar besides the senior officers from Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.
