500 women CRPF personnel deployed in IOK

Srinagar, July 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): A special contingent of about 500 women of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been brought to occupied Kashmir to tackle protest demonstrations. The women personnel, largely in constable ranks, are based at Central Reserve Police Force recruit training centre at Humhama in Srinagar. An officer told newsmen the women, after their 45-day training will be deployed in the Valley to tackle protesters including women.

The women, according to their training officer Manju K, were now familiarising with the topography of the Valley, Srinagar town and are being trained to handle ammunition and weapons such as rubber bullets, pellet guns, pump-action guns and teargas shells, PAVA shells and chilli-based munitions. Constable Nita K, who is a part of this squad, told media she and her colleagues are taking special training sessions to understand the situation and the response mechanism.
