500,000 pneumonia cases in Sindh recorded this year

KARACHI:Provincial Health Department has registered more than 500,000 pneumonia cases in Sindh province since 1st January to 31 October 2020, PPI learnt Saturday.

 

As per statistics issued by District Health Information System, upto 500,000 pneumonia cases had been reported in Sindh province till date out of them 300 died so far.

 

The number of pneumonia cases are on the rise in the province and around 187,000 cases were recorded last month after beginning of summer weather. The pneumonia is a lung disease caused by viral or bacterial infections. It is especially common in low and middle income countries like Pakistan where malnutrition is prevalent and vaccine coverage is low.

 

The majority of pneumonia cases have been registered in Khairpur, Sanghar, Ghotki, Umerkot, Tharparkar, and Shaheed Benazirabad. In Karachi, District Malir is top with majority cases followed by District West, District Korangi and District Central.
