Islamabad, August 14, 2020 (PPI-OT): The official ceremony to mark the Independence Day started with recitation from the Holy Qura’n following which the High Commissioner Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui raised the national flag to the tune of the National Anthem. The Deputy Head of Mission read out the special messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the occasion, says a press release received here today from Dhaka. In his brief address, the High Commissioner said that “Pakistan is not the name of a geographical territory; it is an ideology; the ideology of freedom from oppression and exploitation that our great founding father followed for the emancipation and welfare of South Asia’s Muslims.”
The High Commissioner further remarked that in order to understand the rationale behind the creation of Pakistan, one has to look around and see suffering of the subjugated people in our neighbourhood. The High Commissioner paid glowing tribute to the vision and struggle of the founding leaders, among others, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Quaid e Azam, Allama Iqbal, Sir Salim Ullah Khan, Husain Shaheed Surrawardi and Fazl e Haque “The price of freedom can be well judged by the suffering and struggle of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters particularly for the last one year”, he added.
The High Commissioner felicitated Pakistanis all over the world on this auspicious occasion and emphasized the need for following the golden principles of “Faith, Unity and Discipline” as laid down by the Father of the Nation, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to help Pakistan achieve its due place in the comity of nations. The ceremony was attended by the Mission’s staff while it was witnessed by the Pakistan community in Bangladesh through various social media platforms.
