7th meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior held

Islamabad, August 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): 7th meeting of the Standing Committee on Interior was held today under the Chairmanship of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA in Committee Room No. 7 Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. Agenda discussed in the meeting included Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2019; The Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019; Petition of Mr. Rafiq Ahmed and others and issues faced by Bach Christian Hospital, Abbottabad. The SSP South Khairpur, Sindh, briefed about the petition of Mr. Rafiq Ahmed.

The Committee directed the Police to investigate the issue on merit and provide security to both the parties. For bringing peace between the tribes, the Committee also requested Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur, Member of Committee, to help resolve the issue on tribal level, being prominent Politician and tribal personality of the area. The Police was also directed to share each and every development, regarding the issue, with the Committee.

The “Pakistan citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, was rejected by the Committee. Visa and Nationality issues, faced by Bach Christian Hospital, Qlandarabad, Abbottabad, were discussed and the Committee directed the Ministry of Interior to look into the matter for its solution at the earliest.

Honourable Members/MNAs Mr. Sher Akbar Khan, Khawaja Sheraz Mehmood, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Syed Iftikhar Ul Hassan, Mr. Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Mr. Riaz Fatyana and the senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, FIA, Passport and Immigration, Ministry of Law and Justice and Sindh Police attended the meeting.
