RTO Abbottabad surpasses tax collection target by showing 30% growth in third quarter

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Abbottabad has surpassed the tax collection target by showing 30% growth in the third quarter compared to year 2024 which was 17 % and has been declared ‘Best Performing RTO’ by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

This was stated by the Chief Commissioner RTO Abbottabad Mrs Farhat Qayum while addressing at the certificate distribution ceremony here at the RTO Abbottabad on Thursday.

The Chief Commissioner lauded the efforts of staff and officers of the RTO Abbottabad and said that recovery campaign which was launched two months back has given results.

She said during the campaign door to door contacts were made by the officers to collect the taxes (Income and Sales) from the assesses and special care was made that no harassment to be made at any stage. She said business community has deposited majority of the dues voluntarily.

She said total Rs18.100 million were collected upto third quarter as compared to Rs3.600 million of corresponding year 2024 and RTO Abbottabad has achieved 96% of its target set for the financial year ending June 30,2025.

While talking to media, the Chief Commissioner said efforts are being made to remove the wrong apprehension of the public regarding Tax Offices as they fear that ‘they will be treated badly at Tax Offices’.

She said it is the need of the hour to get back confidence of the public with the friendly atmosphere for business community and general public for which she is personally monitoring the day to day affairs and has also advised the tax payers especially the large outlets of the business premises to collect the due tax and deposit in the government kitty.

Mrs Farhat Qayum further told that ‘Facilitation Desk’ has been established at RTO Abbottabad to facilitate the business community where special efforts are being made for the broadening of the tax net. She was hopeful to maintain its drive in the last quarter of the financial year too.

She appreciated the efforts of the RTO staff and awarded commendation certificates to the officers and staff for excellent performance. Shields were also presented to the RTO Abbottabad staff members.

The ceremony was attended by the Regional Tax Office staff from Haripur, Mansehra and Abbottabad. Commissioner Zone-I Muhammad Jawad and Commissioner Zone -II Khalid Shah and Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of Abbottabad RTO were also present.
