The Pakistani Rupee depreciated significantly against major global currencies on July 2, 2025, with the US dollar nearing an alarming PKR 287 in the open market.
The Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) recorded the greenback trading between PKR 285.07 and PKR 286.39, indicating the ongoing decline in the national currency.
The Euro also strengthened against the Rupee, rising from PKR 335.78 to a high of PKR 338.53. The British Pound mirrored similar gains, trading between PKR 391.21 and PKR 394.41.
The Japanese Yen saw an increase, rising from PKR 1.94 to PKR 2.00. Similarly, the UAE Dirham climbed from PKR 77.65 to PKR 78.10.
The Saudi Riyal also advanced against the Pakistani Rupee, reaching PKR 76.40 compared to PKR 75.98 the previous day. In the interbank market, the dollar fluctuated between PKR 283.95 and PKR 284.15.
