Tax Office Nets Over Rs2.6 Billion in Landmark Enforcement Action Against Single Defaulter

The Corporate Tax Office (CTO) in Lahore has recovered an unprecedented Rs2.646 billion in overdue income tax from a single taxpayer in a major enforcement operation.

According to an announcement from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday, the substantial collection relates to an outstanding tax demand established against the taxpayer following the conclusion of a formal assessment proceeding. The taxpayer had previously failed to fulfil their legal financial responsibilities.

Officials at the CTO Lahore managed the case by first creating the significant tax demand and subsequently executing the collection, adhering strictly to all legal procedures and provisions within the applicable tax law.

In a statement, the FBR highlighted the operation as a demonstration of its field formations” professionalism in managing high-value cases and protecting government revenue. The organisation described the action as indicative of its firm approach to serious instances of tax default, while maintaining a commitment to due process.

The Member for Inland Revenue Operations at the FBR commended the Lahore CTO officers for their dedicated efforts in enforcing tax statutes and safeguarding public funds.

The revenue authority reiterated its commitment to fostering a culture of voluntary compliance among taxpayers, while affirming it will continue to take decisive measures against non-compliant parties.
