Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has said that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Italy are growing stronger with time, while immense opportunities exist in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
He stated that the Pakistan-Italy bilateral trade volume reaching approximately USD 1.6 billion is encouraging, and further expansion in trade and investment can be achieved through a joint economic strategy, according to information today.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Italian Consul General Fabrizio Bielli at the Governor House. Matters relating to Pakistan-Italy relations, bilateral trade, investment and promotion of cooperation in various sectors came under discussion during the meeting.
The governor said that Sindh, particularly Karachi, offers an ideal environment for foreign investment and provides vast opportunities for Italian investors in agriculture, textile, engineering, food processing and renewable energy sectors. He added that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and plays a vital role in international trade activities.
During the meeting, both sides also emphasized the need to further strengthen B2B and G2G relations between the two countries. On the occasion, Consul General Fabrizio Bielli expressed keen interest in investment and trade activities in Sindh and said that Italy holds significant expertise in modern medical equipment, medical incubators and industrial technology, from which Pakistan can greatly benefit.
The meeting also discussed the promotion of cultural exchanges, educational linkages and tourism between the two countries.
