Governor Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi highlighted the growing potential for enhancing economic relations between Pakistan and Italy, indicating a promising path in trade and investment cooperation.
During a meeting with the Consul General of Italy, Fabrizio Belli, at the Governor House today, Governor Hashmi expressed happiness over the strengthening of bilateral relations, especially in trade and industrial cooperation. He disclosed that the trade volume between the two countries has reached approximately $1.6 billion, with ample scope for further growth through joint economic strategy.
Governor Hashmi highlighted the strategic importance of Sindh, particularly Karachi, as a suitable location for foreign investment. He identified vast opportunities for Italian investors in sectors such as agriculture, textiles, engineering, food processing, and renewable energy. Karachi, as the economic powerhouse of Pakistan, plays a significant role in international trade, offering lucrative prospects for business ventures.
The conversation also emphasized the importance of enhancing business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) relations. Consul General Belli expressed Italy’s keen interest in expanding its trade and investment footprint in Sindh, highlighting Italy’s advanced expertise in medical equipment, medical incubators, and industrial technology, which could prove significantly beneficial for Pakistan.
The talks also reviewed the prospects of cultural exchanges, educational partnerships, and tourism projects, aiming to further deepen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
