The Quetta-Chaman Highway remained blocked on Monday for all kinds of traffic, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
According to reports, the Quetta-Chaman Highway was blocked by enraged tribesmen near the Maizai Adda area of District Quetta, who were demanding that the authorities apprehend the perpetrators involved in the killing of five men and the injuring of two others. The blockade caused long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.
It is pertinent to mention that unidentified assailants opened fire at a hotel in the NADRA Market area of Maizai Adda, District Killa Abdullah, the previous day. As a result, five men were killed and two others were injured. The deceased were identified as tribal elder Dad Muhammad Kakar, son of Rehmatullah Kakar; Syed Abdul Mateen, son of Syed Khair Jan; Syed Abdul Jabbar, son of Syed Sultan; Muhammad Raza Kakar, son of Fazal-ur-Rehman Kakar; and Islam Nurzai, son of Muhammad Ramzan Nurzai. The injured were identified as Syed Jaffar Agha, son of Syed Muhammad Ali, and Syed Jamil Ahmed, son of Abdul Ali. Following the incident, enraged tribesmen blocked the Quetta-Chaman Highway, demanding that the authorities arrest those responsible for the killing of five men and the injuring of two others.
The Quetta-Chaman Highway remained closed until the filing of this report.
Separately, a land dispute led to an armed clash between the Hameedzai Achakzai and Sagae Tarin tribes in the Dulungi area of District Killa Abdullah on Monday. Several homes were set ablaze. Armed men from both tribes remained entrenched in their positions, and intermittent firing continued until the filing of this report.
