Significant improvements have been observed in business facilitation in Pakistan, which is due to comprehensive reforms in the tax, digital economy, and trade sectors. The initiatives started in 2024 have modernized these systems, resulting in a 26% increase in tax revenue for the fiscal year 2025.
More than 34,000 taxpayers have been included in the online billing structure, while 43,000 digital billing devices have streamlined tax collection. The deployment of artificial intelligence to tackle tax evasion has proven fruitful, generating additional revenue from major industrial sectors.
Under the Digital Pakistan initiative, the promotion of digital transactions and online financial services has been extensively expanded. The Raast system alone has connected 50 million people and 1.1 million businesses to digital payment platforms, bringing the total number of users to 130 million. Online payment solutions in various government institutions like NADRA have simplified the process of settling fees and charges for citizens.
Furthermore, under the National Tariff Policy 2025-30, tariff reforms have been initiated, aimed at fostering a favorable environment for business facilitation and trade promotion in commercial activities and exports. Officials say that these tax, digital, and trade reforms have played a crucial role in overall improvements in the business environment, transparency, and economic project momentum in the country.
