Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said on Sunday that the foundation of a healthy society lies in clean, quality, and safe food, and that providing adulteration-free food to the public is among the top priorities of the government.
In his special message on World Food Safety Day, the governor stressed the need to adopt international standards and hygiene principles in food production, storage, and supply processes. He said that unsafe and substandard food is a major cause of the spread of several life-threatening diseases in society.
He issued a strict warning to those involved in food adulteration, stating that it was a serious crime against human health and society. He directed the authorities to ensure indiscriminate and effective action against the adulteration mafia.
He further said that collective responsibility must be adopted to prevent food wastage and ensure food safety. Hashmi added that a safe food supply is the true guarantee of a healthy Sindh and a prosperous Pakistan.
