Abadgar leader cries for water for Shahdadkot growers

LARKANA: Thousands of acres of Shahdadkot lands are feared to become arid due to unavailability of agricultural water hence a famine like situation is emerging.

This was claimed by Roshal Ali Brohi, an Abadgar leader while addressing newsmen at his residence on Thursday.

He said when he raised the voice against acute water shortage along with growers and farmers of the area and staged sit-in, people sitting in the assemblies disliked it and they intended to take revenge from him but, he added, he continues to stand with the poor peasants of Shahdadkot who are running from pillar to post for getting water. He said irrigation water scarcity must end in Shahdadkot immediately or else they will face hunger.

Brohi urged prime minister Imran Khan that he wanted to make the country like Madina state adding he should visit Shahdadkot once and see for himself that there is not only irrigation water shortage but drinking water has also become unavailable for the people in Shahdadkot. He said sand is flying instead of flowing water in the irrigation drains of Shahdadkot which is a tragic situation.

He demanded of the rulers, Sindh government and relevant higher authorities to stop water theft forthwith. He also said that PPP leaders Mir Nadir Khan Magsi and Aamir Khan Magsi should also take notice and play their part in this regard so that people could be saved from starvation.
