Mehmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan and chairman of the Pushtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), has called upon Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to defer its civil disobedience movement, urging the party to prioritize dialogue with the government.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Mr. Achakzai stressed the need for negotiations, suggesting that discussions should determine an appropriate timeline for the government’s removal. “It would be ideal if solutions to the prevailing problems are reached through talks,” he said, adding that if negotiations fail to yield results, then launching a movement would be inevitable.
He further proposed that, if the talks succeed, elections should be held within four months. “In case negotiations are successful, I demand that elections be conducted within this period,” he remarked.
The PKMAP chief also announced that he would be visiting Peshawar on the invitation of PTI to offer prayers for the martyrs of Peshawar, underscoring his solidarity with the victims.
He said that he was proceeding to Peshawar on the invitation of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf to pray for the martyrs of Peshawar.
Mr. Achakzai’s call for restraint comes at a time of heightened political tensions, as PTI’s civil disobedience plan continues to dominate the national political landscape.
