In a major crackdown against air pollution, the Islamabad Traffic Police have fined more than 1600 vehicles over the past year for failing to comply with environmental standards, emitting excessive smoke, and operating without proper fitness certificates. The enforcement campaign is led by Chief Traffic Officer, Captain (Retired) Syed Zeeshan Haider, highlighting a strong commitment to improving public health and ensuring road safety across the capital.

Special enforcement squads are actively monitoring the city’s roads and major highways, focusing on stopping vehicles that fall below the required health and safety standards and imposing fines on them.

Captain Haider has highlighted the significant impact of vehicle emissions on air quality and the health of the city’s residents. He stated that reducing pollution from these sources remains a critical goal for traffic authorities.
